Pennsylvania GED
What Are The Eligibility Requirements For The Pennsylvania GED?
The GED (General Education Development) is a series of tests based on a typical high school curriculum. Students who pass the test earn an equivalent high school diploma, which they can use to get into college or to get a higher paying job. Although the test is developed by a national testing service, each state has slightly different requirements. Here's a summary of the eligibility requirements for people ages 18 years or older who want to take the Pennsylvania GED.
- You must be a resident of Pennsylvania.
- You must not be enrolled in another high school program.
- You must be able to prove your identity with documentation like a driver's license.
You can be 16 or 17 years old to take the GED in Pennsylvania, but you will have to satisfy additional requirements. In addition to the requirements listed above, you must submit a letter from your former principal or school superintendant stating that you have withdrawn from school. You also need a letter from a postsecondary school, the armed services or an employer stating that you need a GED in order to enter their program.
