Who Can Take the GED Test?

In the state of Louisiana, anyone over 19 years of age who doesn't already possess a high school diploma or GED may take the GED test. If you're 17-18 years old, you'll need to complete an adult education program to be eligible to take the GED test. If you're 16 years old or younger, you won't be eligible to take the GED test unless you meet certain qualifications, such as family or economic hardship. When is the GED Test?

There are a variety of test dates throughout the year in the city of New Orleans and surrounding areas. Usually, there will be four possible test dates each month, though some months may have fewer. How Can I Prepare for the GED Test?

What's on the GED Test?

The GED test is divided into five sections:

Each section consists of multiple choice, short answer and essay questions. You must earn a minimum score of 410 on each section and an overall average score of 450 to pass the GED test in the state of Louisiana.

Can I Retake the GED Test?

If you don't pass the GED on your first attempt, you may take the test again after 30 days. However, you may only take the GED test three times during any calendar year and are required to wait a minimum of 30 days between each test date.
