GED Connecticut: Learn How to Earn Your Connecticut GED
Employers look to hire individuals who have earned at least a high school diploma or GED. Connecticut residents realize the advantages that a GED offers them in their search for a fulfilling career. Read on to learn more about earning a GED in Connecticut.
Connecticut GED Requirements
Eligibility
According to the Connecticut State Department of Education, www.sde.ct.gov, individuals must meet the following criteria in order to take the GED exam:
- Must be atleast 17 years of age or older
- Proof of withdrawal from high school (Under the age of 18)
Structure
The GED exam is separated into five of the following subject areas:
- Language Arts, Writing
- A 45 minute essay composition
- Language Arts, Reading
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
Scoring
A minimum score of 410 is required on all sections for a total of 2050. Those who fail the exam may retake the entire exam or only the sections where a score below 410 was received. There is a four month waiting period before the exam may be retaken.
Registration and Fees
In order to register for the exam, visit your local testing center to fill out the appropriate paperwork and pay the $13 testing fee. A list of testing centers is available at the Connecticut Department of Education website, www.sde.ct.gov.
