Arkansas GED Requirements

Eligibility

According to the state of Arkansas website www.arkansas.gov, to take the GED you must be:

A legal resident of Arkansas
At least 16 years old
Not have a high school diploma
Not be currently enrolled in high school
Complete and pass the GED practice test

Format

There are five subject areas that must be completed during the exam:

Language Arts, Writing
- Part 1 is 50 multiple choice questions
- Part 2 is a 45 minute essay question
Language Arts, Reading
Mathematics
- Part 1 allows use of a calculator, part 2 does not
Social Studies
Science

Scoring

According to the official website for the state of Arkansas, www.arkansas.gov, to pass the GED you must earn an average score of at least 450 on all tests, with no individual test score below 410. The scoring system is based on a scoring range of between 200 (lowest) and 800 (highest).

You are allowed to retake the entire exam (or failed sections) until you pass.
