GED Colorado: Pass your Colorado GED Exams
There are many personal and professional opportunities that await in the Rocky Mountain region. If you earn your GED you can take advantage of the increased wages, college preparedness, and personal satisfaction it grants you. Read on to find out how to earn a GED in Colorado.
Colorado GED Requirements:
Eligibility
In order to take the GED exam in Colorado, individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a resident of Colorado
- Must be 17 years of age or older
- Must not be currently attending high school
- Must not have received a high school diploma or GED
Format
The GED exam consists of the following five subject test areas:
- Language Arts - Writing (including 45 minute essay question)
- Language Arts - Reading
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
Scoring
Individual test scores range from 200 (lowest) to 800 (highest.) According to the Colorado Department of Education, www.cde.state.co.us, an individual must score at least a 410 on each of the five tests and the average score needs to be 450 on all of the tests for a total score of 2250 points or more.
There are currently three versions of the GED exam, individuals who fail on their first attempt may retake the GED test three times per year. Individuals may also retake only the sections that were failed and not the entire exam.
Registration and Fees
Register at your local testing center. Visit Colorado's Department of Education website for testing locations, www.cde.state.co.us. Fees are determined by individual centers. Check with yours to find out the actual charges.
Preparation
Visit a library or bookstore or go online to view the available GED practice materials. Inquire at your local adult learning center or community college for information about GED prep courses.
