How Can I Give My Child Elementary Math Help On Rounding Numbers?
Rounding numbers is an important math skill that kids often learn in elementary school. Although the concept is fairly simple, kids often need explicit instruction and several practice opportunities before mastering the skill.
If your child is struggling with rounding numbers, you may want to give him or her a mini lesson. Show him or her how to round numbers to the nearest ten. If the ones digit of a number is under five, your child should round down and if the ones digit is five or higher, he or she should round up. For example, 44 rounds down to 40 and 45 rounds up to 50.
