8th Grade Vocabulary
Do Any Websites Have 8th Grade Vocabulary Lists?
A strong vocabulary is often the key to good reading comprehension skills. Without a good vocabulary, 8th graders may struggle while reading novels and textbooks, which can lead to poor grades. You can help your students by creating vocabulary lists that draw words from the texts your students are reading. For example, if your students are reading a novel, go through each chapter to select appropriate vocabulary words. If you teach from a textbook, search for key words and other technical words that may be unfamiliar to 8th graders.
In addition to making your own vocabulary lists, you can find some 8th grade vocabulary lists on the Internet. Laying the Foundation has vocabulary lists compiled from short stories and books often read in middle and high school. Some of the common 8th grade books included on this list are Animal Farm and The Outsiders.
You can find additional 8th grade vocabulary lists from Teachnology and VocabTest.com.
