Third Grade Subtraction
What Should I Know About Third Grade Subtraction?
By the end of third grade, most states expect third grade students to be able to subtract three to four digit numbers with borrowing. In addition, third grade students should be able to solve subtraction word problems and problems that call for estimations or rounding.
Many teachers recommend that third grade students get as much practice as possible with word problems. Students with the ability to independently solve a variety of word problems will not only sharpen their reading and math skills, but they will also gain a sense of autonomy in other math endeavors.
