Teaching 6th Grade Math
What Are Some Tips on Teaching 6th Grade Math?
By 6th grade, students are expected to be able to solve a variety of math problems involving topics, such as decimals, fractions, percentage, probability, measurement conversions and more.
According to some middle school math teachers, one of the most important skills for 6th grade students to learn is how to independently solve word problems or problems that involve graphs and charts. When students are able to use critically thinking skills in math, they are more likely to excel in high school. To provide great practice, give students a variety of word problems that require different functions. Allow students to figure out which application to use.
