Lesson Plans Division
What Are Two Fun Lesson Plans In Division?
Teaching division through an interactive lesson is an effective way to engage students and increase understanding. The following two lesson plans in division are interactive and will help your students understand the basic concept of division.
- Ask a certain number of students to come up to the front of the classroom. Instruct them to divide themselves into equal groups. For example, if ten students come up, they can make five groups of two or two groups of five. Repeat this activity several times until all students have a chance to participate. Then ask students to use pencil and paper to figure out all the ways to divide the entire class into equal groupings. This lesson is a great way to introduce division.
- Let students use manipulatives to figure out basic division problems. Give them a handful of manipulatives. Students can use the manipulatives by dividing them into groups while solving a division problem. Manipulatives help struggling students visualize division. Your more advanced students can estimate the answer before using the manipulatives.
