Games on Fractions Add and Subtract
What Are Two Games On Fractions Addition and Subtraction?
Fraction addition and subtraction can be boring for your students to practice if you just assign piles of worksheets. Although you'll probably want to assign worksheets for homework, you can also let your students play classroom games on fraction addition and subtraction.
- Make a fraction addition and subtraction bingo game by making bingo cards that have problems in each square. Before beginning the game, give students time to solve all of the problems on their card. Then call out answers to the problems during the game.
- Make a fraction dice game. Get two dice that are different colors. Tell students that one color represents the numerator and the other color represents the denominator. Student roll the dice to create a fraction. For example, if you have a red die for the numerator and a blue die for the denominator, a student who rolls two on the red and three on the blue creates a fraction of 2/3. Students should roll one more time and add or subtract their two fractions.
