What Subjects Are Covered on the Wisconsin GED?
Preparation is key to a successful GED test result. Knowing the breakdown of the test beforehand is the first step in preparing for the GED. The subject breakdown of the GED is as follows:
Test 1 Language Arts, Writing
- Consists of 50 questions and an essay
- 120 minutes total,45 minutes allowed for the essay
- Sentence Structure 30%, Organization 15%, Usage 30%, Mechanics 25%
Test 2 Language Arts, Reading
- Consists of 40 questions
- 65 minutes total
- Three fiction and two non-fiction passages, one dramatic play and one poem
- Familiarity with famous texts helps considerably
Test 3 Social Studies
- Consists of 50 questions
- 70 minutes total
- American History 25%, Civics 25%, Economics 20%, Geography 15%, World History 15%
- Knowledge of U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence is necessary
Test 4 Science
- Consists of 50 questions
- 80 minutes total
- Life Science 45%, Physical Science 35%, Space and Earth Science 20%
Test 5 Mathematics
- Consists of two parts of 25 questions each
- 45 minutes for each part
- Calculators allowed in part one only
- Covers Numbers and Operations, Data Analysis and Measurement, Algebra, Geometry and Standard Grids/Coordinate Plane
