Timed Multiplication Test
How Can My Child Practice For A Timed Multiplication Test?
Students generally take timed multiplication tests in third or fourth grade, which is when they are learning the times table. In order to be successful on a timed test, students need to have multiplication facts memorized because there's not enough time during the test to work out each individual problem.
Your child can prepare for a timed multiplication test by drilling with multiplication flashcards. He or she can complete online flashcards at Math Fact Café or you can make your own by writing problems on index cards. Children can also practice multiplication facts by playing some of the free games available from Multiplication.com. The repeated practice on this site will help your child remember math facts during a timed test.
In order to reduce stress during the test, you may also want to give your child timed practice. You can print multiplication worksheets from Math Drills and time your child while he or she completes them. Your child can also complete timed online multiplication practice at MrMyers.org.
With constant practice and encouragement, your child will successfully pass his or her timed multiplication tests and confidently move on to new math topics.
