Teaching Children Division

Should I Assign Worksheets When Teaching Children Division?

After children learn how to visualize the concept of division, they need to practice solving division problems. Repetitive practice is an essential facet of math instruction because kids will quickly forget an operation that's only practiced once or twice. Although worksheets aren't the only way your students can practice division, they're effective and convenient.

Consider assigning a worksheet every night when you're teaching children division. The worksheet should take your students twenty to thirty minutes to complete. If you're teaching division facts, you can put fifty to a hundred facts on the sheet. If you're teaching long division, ten to twenty problems should be sufficient.

You can also keep a folder of division worksheets in your classroom. Children can complete the worksheets for extra practice when they finish other work early.
