NY State 4th Grade Science Test
Will My Child Take An NY State 4th Grade Science Test?
If you live in New York state, your child will take an NY state 4th grade science test and several other content area exams, including math and language arts. The questions on the science test are designed to test students' mastery of the New York state standards in science. As a result, the types of questions are divided into four broad categories.
- About 25-30% of the questions are based on standard one, which tests students' understanding of mathematical analysis, scientific inquiry and technological design.
- About 5% of the test is on information systems.
About 60% is on the living environment and physical setting.
- About 5-10% is on interconnectedness.
- The rest of the test involves interdisciplinary problem solving.
There are several different question formats on the NY state 4th grade science test, including multiple choice, extended response and open ended.
