Measurement Games for Kids

What Are Three Fun Measurement Games For Kids?

Completing measurement worksheets can be very boring for kids. After all, who really wants to spend hours measuring lines with a ruler? If you want your students to have fun while practicing measurement, you may want to incorporate one of the following games into your unit.

  • Hold a measurement Olympics. Design events like a long jump and discus throw that your students could complete in the hallway or on the playground. Before beginning an event, students should predict how far they can throw or jump. Then they can measure the distance to check their predictions.
  • Make a measurement bingo game. Create bingo cards with lines of different lengths in each square. Before beginning the game, students should measure each of their lines and record the measurement in their boxes. You can then call out different lengths.
  • Have a measurement scavenger hunt. Give students a ruler and a list of different lengths. Ask them to go around the classroom or school looking for objects close to each length.
