Math Tests for Second Grade
How Should My Child Prepare For Math Tests For Second Grade?
Even when your child is in second grade, he or she should prepare for math tests with the same methods he or she will use in more advanced grades. The most effective way for most kids to prepare for math tests is to complete a lot of practice problems. Completing practice problems helps kids practice math facts and processes so that they feel comfortable on the test.
You can get worksheets and practice problems from your child's teacher. Ask the teacher for extra copies of worksheets that were used for in-class practice. You can also look at the worksheets in your child's math folder and model original problems off of the worksheets. For more information on creating your own math problems, read 'Creating Your Own Math Problems And Worksheets'.
Many math tests for second grade are on addition and subtraction math facts. Your child can prepare for math facts tests by drilling with flashcards and completing timed practice.
