How Should I Check My Kid's School Work?
It is important to monitor your child's homework and school work on a daily basis. When children are part of an accountability system, they may be more likely to stay organized and conscientious of their actions. To ensure your child is putting their best effort into assignments, take a genuine interest in his or her work. Ask sincere questions that let your child know you are curious, not suspicious. The following questions are good examples:
- What proud moments did you have at school today?
- What are your goals for tonight's homework?
- What is one thing that confused you in this assignment?
- How can we work together to get this project done?
- To make things easier, why don't we make a homework folder that we check every day?
- Even adults need practice. Can you show me how to solve these kinds of problems?
