- Adjectives and Adverbs
Adjectives and adverbs are descriptive words. Adjectives (such as smart, yellow, large or cute) describe people, places, things or ideas. Adverbs (such as quickly, slowly, soon or later) describe actions. - Nouns and Pronouns
A noun (such as Obama, library, shoes or compassion) is a person, place, thing or idea. A pronoun (such as he, she, they, we, and it) are words that replace a noun for the purpose of not being repetitive. - Verbs
A verb (such as jump, say, create and cry) is an action word. Verbs imply something that happens, happened or will happen. - Subjects and Objects
The subject of a sentence is the noun or pronoun that is doing the action in a sentence. The object is the noun or pronoun to which the action is being done. Take the following sentence, for instance: The man drove the car. The man is the subject, the one doing the action. The car is the object, the one receiving the action.
