Reading Help Resources from ReadWriteThink

ReadWriteThink's website provides free online tools for reading and writing. Most of these are for kids in grades K-12. The tools provided by ReadWriteThink can help your child think more deeply about a text, engage in analysis and practice fluency skills. ReadWriteThink offers activities, projects, games and a wide variety of learning objectives to choose from, like grammar, vocabulary, media literacy, research, text structures and more.

'Student interactives' are one of the most common reading tools that you and your child will come across on the site. They are designed to actively engage your child in an immersive learning experience. In order for most of ReadWriteThink's student interactives to work, you'll need to download and install a recent version of Adobe Flash on your computer if you don't already have it.

Book Adventure's Quizzes and Book Lists

For extensive book lists and quizzes, look no further than Book Adventure. There are over 7,000 books that you can help your child choose from. The book lists can be organized by grade level, reading difficulty or a wide variety of non-fiction and fiction subjects such as art and architecture, science fiction, poetry, fairytales and folklore, biographies, short stories and much more. All of the books listed by Book Adventure have multiple-choice quizzes your child can take to test his or her reading fluency and comprehension. These quizzes are designed to help you monitor your child's progress, as well as give your child a chance to win numerous prizes.

Reading Games from PBS Kids

PBS Kids offers dozens of free, interactive reading games that your child can play online. These games are based on popular PBS learning programs that your child may already be familiar with, like Sesame Street, Martha Speaks and The Electric Company. There are sometimes featured topics for the games, such as dogs. You can easily sort through the games to find the reading topic your child needs help with as well as content that will hold his or her attention.
