What Are Some Tips for Improving My Child's Elementary Studying Habits?
Improving your child's studying habits in elementary school is an investment that will pay off greatly over the course of your child's entire educational career. Developing good study habits will reduce stress for both the student and the parent making the learning experience a positive one.
Create a Study Friendly Environment
Creating a supportive environment for studying is very important. Turn off the TV and keep the family noise to a minimum during studying time. Don't let siblings interrupt the studying student. Designate a studying time and area with light snacks available. Have your child take breaks to stretch and relax to prevent study burnout.
Organization
Keep an assignment calendar to track quiz and test dates. Don't procrastinate and build in extra time for unexpected problems. You may need to communicate with your child's teacher to ensure your child has all of the materials necessary for testing success.
Self Discipline
Teach your child to follow established planning and organization rules on his own. Don't nag or be obssesive if your child slips. Praise good behavior at every opportunity.
