Children School Work
How Has Children's School Work Changed Since I Was A Kid?
The world of education is constantly evolving and teaching techniques that were used when you were a kid are probably different than the ones being used with your child. Although kids still learn the basics or reading, writing and arithmetic in elementary school, you may notice that things are different than you remember.
These days, a lot of children's school work is hands-on and interactive because research has shown that many children learn best when engaged in learning. Your child will still complete worksheets and traditional school work but will also do fun projects for homework. Children also work in math and reading centers during school time; many center activities are non-traditional and interactive.
You'll also notice that your child learns harder things in elementary school than you did. Kindergarten used to be a grade in which kids played most of the day. Today's kindergartners are expected to read by the end of the year. As a result, your child is probably learning everything a year earlier than you did.
