What Are Some Fun 8th Grade Math Games To Play At The End Of The Year?

The sun is shining, the windows are open and summer is around the corner. By mid-May, your students are probably itching to be out of math class and having trouble paying attention. You can maintain your students' attention by letting them play of these math games.

  • Write down several problems that students should be able to complete in their heads on note cards. Borrow a ball from the P.E. teachers and take your students outdoors. Sit your students in the circle and play a math version of hot potato. Students have to pass the ball around the circle. When you start reading a math problem from your note card, the student with the ball has to answer it.
  • Another fun 8th grade math game to play at the end of the year is math Jeopardy. Divide your students into groups and write problems on the board at the front of the room. The problems should be a review of all the topics taught in 8th grade math. You can also use this game as a chapter review.
