7 Grade Math
What Do Kids Typically Learn In 7th Grade Math?
The typical 7th grade math curriculum differs from school to school and child to child. Many 7th graders take a general math class in which they review arithmetic, fractions and decimals. They may also learn some basic algebra and geometry in this class.
Other 7th graders take pre-algebra. In this class they learn all of the basic skills they will need for algebra, including properties like the distributive and communicative property. They will also practice order of operations and working with variables.
Some 7th graders may even take algebra. Students who take algebra in 7th grade are usually advanced in math. Since algebra is a high school class, they may have to take the high school final at the end of the year.
You can find out more about what your child will learn in 7th grade math by asking the math teachers at your child's school for specific curriculum information.
